Facade Hoists are proud to be part of a building that has won ‘Best Commercial Workplace’ at the British Council for Offices (BCO) Awards 2023.

The judges were “struck by the respectful way in which this ambitious 26-storey development has changed the city’s skyline without dominating the conservation area in which it lies”.

Our involvement in the project was completed in 2022  after being appointed in 2019. This project has been more than a decade in the making with Facade Hoists first approached in 2018. Both a pandemic and a financial crisis caused delays to the project start but despite setbacks the project has turned into one of the landmark developments in the city of Birmingham.

Facade Hoists installed a 13m telescopic BMU on the roof which provides access to approximately half of the building. A points system was installed to enable the BMU to park in the centre of the building. This hides the unit from sight at street level.

A 17m telescopic BMU is located on a lower level which provides access to the remainder of the building. Both BMU’s are equipped with ‘2-man’ platforms and auxiliary lifting winches, which allow general maintenance of the façade as well as glass replacement.
